Being positive

One of the most important things I have learnt during my live is to be POSITIVE.
For as long as I can remember I have always tried to turn a negative into a positive. I look upon this as a challenge and I grab each one with both hands. For me it is easy and most rewarding.

Yesterday I was told about someone that had been retrenched. SHOCK and HORROR NO

Lets think about this for a minute. Question time.

Do they have a partner or are the alone and therefore the only bread winner?
This person has a very caring partner, so they will be OK.

Do they own their own home or are they renting?
They have a mortgage.

Can he afford to have a holiday from work or will he have to obtain another job immediately?
A couple of weeks off will do him a lots of good.

This person has been given a great OPPORTUNITY
How can this be I hear you ask. This could be the cross roads we sometimes face and it may be time to head in a different direction. Did he really like the kind of work he was in or would he like to try something new. Knowing this man, as I do, he will continue in the some field, but this is where someone else could change tact.
We have all heard the saying "if you want something bad enough, you will get it". To me it is the same as being positive. During my life when one door closed, many more opened. Whether my positivity was playing a part or I was JUST LUCKY I don't know, but something worked. I remember many years ago I wanted to change the type of job I had. What did I do? I bought the newspaper and looked at all the positions vacant. That day I applied for three jobs.......... Guess what? I got all three of them. What did I do then. I accepted every one and went home to think about them which one was best for me. I compared salary, working conditions, what suburb and travelling time etc. Having made my decision I then called the two jobs that I didn't want and something strange happened then. Each place I rang said that they were very sad to loose me as I was just the right person for them. They were also blown away that I had bothered to ring back to say no thank you. They both wished me well.
I remember another time when I had two part time jobs. One day after arriving at work the boss (a very nasty man) called me into his office, he fired me because I had worked out a better way of doing a particular job. I guess I made him look bad. What did I do? I drove straight to my other job and said "here I am" and told him what had happened. Great was the response, you can now work full time here. I stayed at that job for many years only leaving when I moved interstate to live. Opportunities and positives are all around us but sometimes, some of us have better sight and hearing.

  1. Ahhh the power of being positive. I mean really, what's the point of being negative anyway - does it really do anyone any good?

    Great post!
